Sachiin Joshi’s Aazaan set to hit theaters - Latest Bollywood News

JMJ Entertainment is all set to step into the world of glitz and glamour with their forthcoming film Aazaan starring Sachiin Joshi and Candice Boucher in the lead roles.
Aazaan will roll out the red carpet for two star studded premieres – the first one in Grand Cineplex Dubai and the next one in PVR Mumbai. The premiere will see debutant Sachiin Joshi sashay down the red carpet with his co-star Candice Boucher. Also, walking the line will be director Prashant Chadha, Actor Ravi Kissen and music composers Salim-Sulaiman.
Aazaan – A vision of JMJ Entertainment was created with a belief that Indian cinema can be at par with global cinema, so, an International team of professionals was instrumental in giving shape to this film – which has duration of 120 minutes.
With striking visuals that belong to ‘never seen before’ category Aazaan theatrical trailer had everyone sitting up and taking notice. “Like every film we have also put in a lot of hard work in making the film, but more than nervous I am excited about the release. We have done a lot of innovative things to market Aazaan and thankfully we have got a lot of positive feedback from the promos that are running in the theatres currently,” says the debutant actor Sachiin Joshi.
Touted to be Bollywood’s biggest espionage thriller ever, Aazaan directed by Prashant Chadha had an elaborate shooting schedule all over the globe that includes locations spread across France, Morocco, Hong Kong – China, Germany, Poland, South Africa , Thailand and India to name a few.
The film is not only shot and put forth in the most stylized way you would have ever seen, but the marketing of the film has also been path-breaking. Be it the maximum amount of outdoor campaigns to live music concerts in India with the cast of the film or pioneering the digital space to the most innovative merchandising – team Aazaan has done it all. The film came out with an array of innovative merchandizes keeping the theme of the film in mind – A spy pen and a watch that doubles up as a USB among other things like t-shirts, mugs, notebooks.
The music of the film has been given by the stalwarts Salim Sulaiman – and it’s without a doubt creating waves and is on everyone’s playlist. “We are way too excited about Aazaan. It’s our best music of 2011,” says Salim.
Aazaan is the story of Aazaan Khan(Sachiin Joshi)- young upright army officer working for RAW with a mixed lineage of Afghan and Indian parents. As part of his duties, Aazaan gets drawn into the murky world of espionage only to find his younger brother a suspected terrorist. What unfolds is a fast paced story of one man’s determination of saving his country against all odds.
The film will hit the silver screen in India and other 22 countries with over 1000 screens worldwide. The film will release in four different languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telegu & Malayalam.

But LOVE BREAKUPS ZINDAGI, a slice of life film, makes you recall certain episodes of your life. Though the film isn't biographical, one does relate to certain episodes in the narrative for two reasons -- they seem straight out of life and of course, first-time writer-director Sahil Sangha makes an effort to tell it with utmost honesty and simplicity. But, unfortunately, he succeeds to a degree!

Sangha seems to be focused on telling a story, sorry two stories [Zayed-Dia-Vaibhav and Cyrus-Tisca], without magnifying the issues or relying on melodrama. While Sangha sets things up beautifully in the first hour -- the film has some remarkable sequences that have been filmed with lots of sensitivity -- it's the post-interval portions that blow away the impact generated by those riveting moments. There are reasons why the second half doesn't measure up to the expectations: [i] it relies on clichés, [ii] the climax, though well filmed, is way too predictable and of course, [iii] the film is toooo long [almost 2.40 hours] and worse, sluggish and dawdling paced.

But, frankly, the two films just cannot be compared, though, I wish to add, the characters are borrowed from there, but the plot and milieu are entirely different.

Is HUM TUM SHABANA a present-day adaptation of David Dhawan's immensely likeable DEEWANA MASTANA? That's what a lot of people seem to be asking me online. Call it a coincidence, but two guys chasing one girl isn't new to Hindi movies. Coincidences apart, both HUM TUM SHABANA and DEEWANA MASTANA are poles apart when it comes to the plotline and the way the screenplay unfolds.

Helmed by Sagar Ballary, HUM TUM SHABANA tilts more towards the GOLMAAL brand of non-stop laughathons than the BHEJA FRY variety, which Ballary is known for. Ballary shifts lanes this time, attempting a madcap entertainer that throws logic out of the window. He opts for a plot that abounds in ludicrous situations, with a twist in the tale towards the post-interval portions. But it is this twist that blows the impact created by an immensely watchable first hour.

A few decades ago, Jeetendra hit the pot of gold by working in some wonderful remakes [of South films] and the trend seems to have re-surfaced thanks to the successes tasted by Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn more recently.

With FORCE, John Abraham re-visits the genre [action] that he attempted in DHOOM. He has the physique and the persona to carry off the part and make the character believable. Remake of the Tamil hit KAAKHA KAAKHA, which starred Suriya and Jyothika, FORCE packs the punches, the kicks, the blood and the bruises in those two hours. Essentially a fight between the good and the evil, there's a restrained love story as well, which becomes the backbone of the plot.

Will Desi Boyz mark an entry for Akshay Kumar in 100 crore club - Latest Bollywood Gossips

Three years back Shah Rukh Khan was ruling from the top and Akshay Kumar was giving him massive challenge to occupy the Number One slot. However, in the interim period Aamir Khan and Salman Khan came with multiple films that topped the Rs.100 crore mark and formed an exclusive club. Now that Shah Rukh is all set to join the club with Ra.One and Don 2, the industry is quite positive that Akshay too would achieve the same with Desi Boyz.

"First promo of Desi Boyz has seen a very good response ever since it was premiered along with Mausam as well as online", says a trade guru, "The film is looking fresh while the look of Akshay and John has quite appreciated as well. They seem to be sharing a great chemistry together and it is apparent that they have a winner in hand."

While response on YouTube and social networking sites have been largely positive, albeit with some bits of usual negatives trickling in as well, those in the know-how feel that Desi Boyz could well be one of the most aggressively marketed films of Akshay in the recent times.

"His Thank You wasn't promoted as a blockbuster in the making while his delayed films like Patiala House as well as Action Replayy were never expected to cross any major milestones. Yes, Tees Maar Khan was sold as a major festival film last Christmas and resultantly turned out to be Akshay's biggest opener as well. It is a different matter though that audience didn't take a liking to it due to which it couldn't sustain", remarks an observer.

"Desi Boyz should very comfortably break the opening weekend record for Akshay", he continues in the same breath, "One should also understand that market has improved leaps and bounds over last one year. Practically every biggie is netting close to Rs. 50 crores in one week itself. There is no reason why Desi Boyz shouldn't record similar collections. Of course once that happens, it would be film as a whole which will do all the talking. However all around vibe so far is good and with talks of Pritam composing at least a couple of major chartbusters for Akshay and John, seems like half the battle has already been won."

When contacted, director Rohit Dhawan said, "Akshay is one of the best actors in the country. He is capable of every genre whether it is action, romance, drama, comedy. That man can do anything under the roof. He is capable of so much; it is eventually left to the directors and script writers to get the best out of him."

It's become a ritual. Week after week, I make it a point to gauge audience expectations from a forthcoming movie on Twitter and Facebook. Based on what they have seen in the promos of a forthcoming film, or after listening to its soundtrack, the prospective viewers/moviegoers share their thoughts on the movie on my timeline. MAUSAM, I must add, had generated tremendous excitement prior to its release for varied reasons. One of the key reasons being, it is helmed by one of the most respected and accomplished actors of India -- Pankaj Kapur. This, in my opinion, is also its unique selling proposition.

MAUSAM is being advocated as one of the greatest, epic love stories on celluloid. A story that talks of unconditional love against all adversities. First-time director Pankaj Kapur narrates a saga of star-crossed lovers facing various storms in their lives and of course, seasons. The story begins in the early 1990s and concludes a decade later, encompassing historical events that affected our lives -- displacement of Kashmiri Pandits, Babri Masjid episode, Mumbai blasts, 9/11, Kargil war and Gujarat riots. Though the on-screen characters make a veiled attack on the atrocities inflicted on the common man, MAUSAM remains a love story at heart.

Speedy Singhs - Movie Reviews

Cricket, Hockey, Football, Boxing... now Ice Hockey! Sport-centric films are gradually finding their way on the Hindi screen. BREAKAWAY aka SPEEDY SINGHS brings several knows names from U.S., Canada and India in this cross-cultural family drama with Ice Hockey as the backdrop.

Like BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM much earlier and PATIALA HOUSE more recently, SPEEDY SINGHS also looks at the generation gap between the older generation [Anupam Kher, in this case], who hold tightly to traditional values and the younger generation [Vinay Virmani], who have already adapted themselves to the adopted country [Canada]. SPEEDY SINGHS has a plot you can connect with instantly, but the film suffers on varied counts.

It's not sacrilegious to be inspired by a foreign source [BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM], but the writer/s should've ensured that they explore/depict issues that haven't been witnessed earlier. SPEEDY SINGH merely scratches the surface, but doesn't delve deeper into issues plaguing people of Indian origin living in Canada. Also, Ice Hockey may be the most popular sport there, but it's hard known in India and that robs the film of the excitement and euphoria that's attached to the sport. Besides, most importantly, the execution of the material throws a wet blanket. A desi director, I feel, would've been able to the address the issues and merge the sport in the narrative more effectively. On second thoughts, given the poor screenplay of the film, there's not much even an accomplished director would've achieved.
